Since I posted about Le Salzgries I wanted to stick to the French food theme here and share my visit to Cafe Francais.
First of all, if you plan to eat your lunch there, you need to reserve a seat since it can be really busy.
Coco and me had our lunch date and had a lovely table right next to the window so we could check out passer-bys and in the background you can see the Votivkirche. The view must be even better in Spring or Summer when it is less grey and black and you are able to sit outside :)
I had the quiche Lorraine and Coco went with a Moroccan spiced vegetable soup.
The quiche was great and the Moroccan soup had a nice blend of exotic flavours.
The service was friendly and they sometimes used French words which I thought was highly entertaining.
If you want to have a nice view with yummy food and a buzzing and vibrant atmosphere for lunch, you should definitely drop by this place!
Somehow I never got to post about Deli Bluem. It newly opened this year in the 8th District and is focused on healthy vegetarian options.
The place is nicely decorated and looks really welcoming and friendly with their cute and floral decoration on the chandeliers.
The food offer reminds me of Hiddenkitchen, where they offer different salads and you can choose a selection of salads and just pay for how many options you take.
I read a lot of positive reviews on the Georgian filled bread, which I naturally had to taste.
After biting into it, you are greeted with a very flavourful filling and as you munch on this bread and try to guess what spices were used, it has gone into your belly already.
I enjoyed the mix of different tastes and textures from the salads but they were a bit bland compared to the Georgian bread.
My beverage was a matcha latte of course. I love matcha and could drink it all the time.
Deli Bluem is a great option for a healthy lunch but is not too expensive, near Josefstädterstraße and the main university.
Another restaurant I want to show you is in the 7th district in Vienna, Figar.
It is perfect for lunch since they have a daily lunch menu for just 6,9€ and with a soup only 7,9€, although I also heard people praising their breakfast.
I rarely eat breakfast in restaurants though so lunch it had to be :)
On such a sunny day I just had to meet with two friends of mine for lunch and we luckily got a place outside.
I chose the lunch menu with wild garlic soup. The taste of the soup was great and surprisingly was quite a big portion for just 1€.
We three all chose the shrimp and courgette risotto so not too many food pictures in this post sadly.
Beside the food I loved the very friendly and attentive service, big plus!
Very interesting and artsy “print” on their wall, this is just a small detail of the whole picture.
I will be back for some more lunch!
Located on Neubaugasse it is perfect to have lunch there when I have get back to university again I just need to hop into the bus 13a.
They have a lunch menu but I always opt for a burger since it is the most plausible thing to do, the homepage makes your mouth water :)
Went there again with Kerstin and we enjoyed the honey mustard chicken burger 8,9€. Sadly they changed the chunky but crispy fries to thin slices, but it was still tasty with that sour cream sauce.
After food we did some shopping at Femosa and had a fun time exploring all the new items one does not need but are too cute not to buy. I tell you, the perfect place to find presents!
Saying our goodbyes I met with the Mister for a quick and yummy cupcake at Brass Monkey. If you have been there you won’t want to go to any other cupcake place in Vienna ;)
The best days are spent with the lovely company of friends and good food.
Have a nice week everyone!
My mum invited me yesterday to Plachutta for lunch. Plachutta is famous for the Austrian dish called “Tafelspitz”. It is cooked beef (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Rind-Schwanzst%C3%BCck.png this part of the animal but there you could choose different cuts too) served in the beef stew. The first step is to eat the soup and then you get to eat the beef with side dishes like potato rösti, spinach and apple kren. It was very delicious and I understand why it was the favourite dish of Kaiser Franz Joseph! :)
