Last Autumn days

The weather was surprisingly warm for Autumn and I can’t recall this season to have been that dry and filled with blue skies. Perfect for enjoying those last sun rays and splashes of colour before boring old winter is coming back ;)

Here are some impressions in that order of :Volksgarten in the inner district of Vienna, Donaupark and the vineyards in Stammersdorf, on the outskirts of Vienna.

shootin_vienna_Autumndays

I love the orange colour of the Buddhist monks and how it matches the trees :)

shootin_vienna_Autumndays shootin_vienna_Autumndaysshootin_vienna_Autumndays

Most of the cellars at Stammersdorf seemed really old and abandoned.  Guess it is too much work for most of the families.

The meteorologists have stated the end for those sunny days and  I guess we have to go back to heating our flat again.
At least we have the money to heat and a roof on top of our heads compared to other people so I don’t really want to complain here.

Autumnal Augarten

The Augarten is located in the second district in Vienna and is home to the famous Augarten Porcelain.

shooting_vienna_augarten

The famous Wiener Sängerknaben have their concert hall right next to the park.

It was not really one of the parks I would visit often, to me it is not that spectacular or impressiv.
Well, besides the big Flakturm, the big and massive grey building in the background is still here from the second world war.

In this picture you can even see the tip of the Fernwärme, which provides heat and warm water to many households in Vienna.

shooting_vienna_augarten shooting_vienna_augarten

Mostly the people are jogging or walking their dog, but in summer you can come here with friends to have a good time.

I do love the autumn look it has at the moment and the cute vegetable garden I saw while going to the park.

Japanese Garden and Autumn festival

The leaves on the trees are slowly changing colours already and I can’t wait to visit Setagaya Park in full Autumn gear!

shooting_vienna_setagaya
I actually never visited this park in Summer and was surprised by how green and relaxing it was, compared to the hot and sticky public transport.

shooting_vienna_setagaya   shooting_vienna_setagaya
Lots of turtles were chilling in the water, in Autumn you mostly spot only a few. I wonder if those are being taken care of in Winter.

shooting_vienna_setagaya

In the 15th of September, a Japanese Autumn festival will take place at the Japanese Garden in Schönbrunn from 2pm till 5 pm.
Maybe we will see each other there! :)

Alte Donau – Autumn walk

The weather is mostly sunny and nice in Vienna and November is surprisingly very warm, which makes autumn walks really enjoyable.

I had to study for my exam but still sneaked out to catch some sunshine and to finally make an autumnal post here so I can show you one of my favourite places to go for a walk :)

The Alte Donau which is translated old Danube is especially a great place in summer for various sporty activities but has its own charm in autumn.

shooting_vienna_altedonau
As you can see I am not really looking forward to winter…

Sun(ny)day – Alte Donau

A sunny week-end is really something to look forward to, especially in autumn and winter.
After shutting myself in and making final updates and checks on my thesis and studying for my basic law course, I headed out to Alte Donau, one of my favourite places to hang out on a beautiful Sunday.

shooting_vienna_altedonau
Not only because I am lazy to go somewhere really far away from me (if I would live near Schönbrunn or Belvedere I would probably hang out there;)) but I really enjoy just sitting on a bench and watching the calm water.

shooting_vienna_altedonau
I spied a dragonfly and in my best moment of stealth I could creep up really closely and snap some close-ups. My camera zoom on my digital camera is not the best, so I was literally only 20cm away from it.

shooting_vienna_altedonau

I love dragonflies, they are so pretty and fascinating.

shooting_vienna_altedonau

I also noticed some fish hanging out at the bank of the Donau but I couldn’t really get a nice shot. Here anyway the evidence ;)

Instagram – Autumn post

University has started again for me since last week and the current temperatures around 18-20°C are just so lovely to fully enjoy Autumn.

Having my lecture in the cellar of Juridicum with no windows. Funfunfun but super interesting :)

Pumpkin spiced ice-cream. So yummy! You can really taste out the natural sweetness of the pumpkin :)

Super yummy steak sandwich at joma with a grilled avocado, fries and a salad which did not make it on the picture.
Big plus for the tea timer I got served with my tea so I knew exactly when to take out the tea bag to my liking!

Blue skies at our parliament with lots of happy tourists.

I just love Chai especially when it’s getting colder. I had mine at Coffee Pirates which is located near the Campus. It is super comfy there, great to chill between classes.

The interior of Coffee Pirates is a nice mix of old vintage pieces, that make you feel at home.

I redecorated my table and love lighting up my scented candles in the evening

Tried out Rachel Khoo’s yummy fig and chicken liver salad!

Palmenhaus Schönbrunn – Date place

Have you ever wondered where to have a romantic but cute date besides the mainstream coffee/movie/dinner/lunch- date?

If he or she has no botanophobia, the Palmenhaus would be a perfect option!

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

The admission is 4€ per person and the place is just so magical and beautiful, you easily find things to talk about and get to know each other better.
The place is separated into different climate zones, the cold-, temperate- and tropical zone. Things can get hot and humid there *eyebrow wiggle*

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

I actually went there with the Mister to check out the blooming Victoria Amazonica but we sadly missed the bloom.
Too late but we still had a great time. Check out the huge amount of pics below :)

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

The wonderful blooming entrance area. Very welcoming!

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

Don’t forget to look up from time to time. I just love the super high ceiling!

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

We sat down at the benches and imagined how it would be like to live here. Wouldn’t it be so cool to have a hammock here and wake up in this place?
Luckily there are no snakes and no poisonous spiders :)

There is even a small pond with fish. Super relaxing, I just love to watch the dancing water surface.

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

Off to the tropical area, which indeed was very humid. We immediately peeled out of our jackets and enjoyed the variety of plants we have never seen before.

Just hangin around ;)

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

I just loved this flower so much! Doesn’t it look like a huge amount of dragon heads? What do you think?

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

The leaves were so fluffy! I just love to touch plants and it makes exploring so much more fun.

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

Not in bloom but the Queen of water lilies is still impressive.

shooting_vienna_palmenhaus

And if you thought you could end your date by just walking out and home you are wrong!

Everyone in Vienna knows that Schönbrunn is THE place to see and feed squirrels. Don’t forget to bring some nuts and you will be loved by those furry cuties!

After the food donation you can wander through the autumnal ally and walk towards your next destination.

Autumn nesting

The past few days it rained with no end in sight in Vienna and I knew I had to acquire scenting candles.
I really never was into scented candles but somehow the London Trip converted me (lots of awesome scented candles in the shops, the Brits seem to love it to bits).

The Mister and me bought in Muji a candle which smells lovely of Hinoki wood.

shooting_vienna_candles

In Marionaud I bought a room scent from Evoka – African dream. It was around 19€ and I think its a bit too sweet for me that’s why I am going to try out the room scents from Ipuro which have very high reviews on Amazon. The scents from Ipuro can be bought in Depot, Bipa and Müller (which I just recently discovered since I am still new in this whole scent business.) ;)

shooting_vienna_candles

shooting_vienna_candles

Some days ago I bought lots of scented candles from Parks and I can’t wait for them to arrive! The candles are quite pricey but the quality is accordingly.
The candles will be Christmas presents and since friends are reading my blog I don’t want to spoil the surprise just yet!

Generally I love a fresh smell (similar to laundry), wood notes or amber but also citrus.

Are you into scented candles as well? What is your favourite smell? Can you recommend me a specific brand for candles? :)

Bright yellow leaves everywhere around.. the pavement mostly.

Busy people going somewhere. Actually I see Schottentor seldom that empty, it is most often bursting with people ;)

Eating some pie before starting to study for uni. Red currant and vanilla pie as brain fuel. Mhm sugaaaar.

Instagram Autumn walk at Palmenhaus Schönbrunn

The Palmenhaus was ordered to be built by Kaiser Franz Josef. With 2500 square meters it is up until now the largest Palmenhaus in Europe. The building is separated in three climate-parts. The mediterranean (with South Africa and Latin America),  then South-East Asia (with Japan, China, plus random New Zealand) and the tropical sub-tropical part. I have been inside when I was a kid but since it is really close to the Schönbrunn Zoo, not a lot of people go inside. It is closed now anyway until end of this November due to renovations.
It is still great for a walk, especially now that it is Autumn! The trees are in great colours and there are lots of hungry squirrels waiting for you to donate some nuts ;)
