Wienerwald

The Wienerwald which consists of the two words Vienna and forest, is the north-east end of the Alps and a popular place for Viennese to enjoy nature.
I prefer hiking but there were a lot of mountain bikers today, rushing through the forest in high speed.
We slowly climbed the steep forest which was covered in a thick blanket of dried leaves, inspecting the ground for any sign of a mushroom.
The mission of mushroom hunting was a fail since we only found two mushrooms in 3 hours!
Later on I drove everyone to an Austrian restaurant to fill our bellies and everyone was happy again. Also we snacked on the way with lots of wild blackberries so it wasn’t that bad..

I brought my macro lens along from Canon 100mm 1:2,8 which let me take a closer look at nature.
Hope you enjoy the pictures and since I made quite a lot a second part of this post will be up tomorrow.
I’ll post more about the little inhabitants of the forest I found and will show off the mushrooms in the next post ;)

Named Alpenveilchen or Cyclamen, many of those pretty violet flowers were in bloom and are a sign for Autumn at least that’s what my dad said.
