Thailand Fest(ival) Vienna 2-7.7.13

Yesterday the first day of the Thai Festival in Vienna took place and the weather could not have been more perfect.
The festival is located right in front of the Riesenrad, on the Kaiserwiese.
Not just food but also interesting and complicated looking traditional dance performances lure in the curious crowds.

Let’s start with the most important. Food of course.

It seems to me that the most important ingredients in Thai cooking are chilis and fish sauce.

This delicious dish was pork in sour and tangy sauce with coriander. Great combo!
The dishes cost mostly from 4-7€ but the portions are quite generous.

The boyfriend could not decide so he got half of two dishes together.
The chicken on the left was alright in a sweet and sour sauce and peanuts.
The chicken curry on the right was perfection. The sauce was so good I could have licked the plate.
Perfect seasoning and balance of all those ingredients, this was my favourite dish!

Thai beauties, they really know how to smile!

Posing, posing posing ;)

These costumes were amazing! I don’t know what the girls symbolize but their dance was really interesting.

The girls smiles never faltered on stage.

Beautiful fruit carving!

My sister on the far right enjoyed a massage, 10€ for 15 min.

If you have time I would recommend you to come by and check out the Thai festival.
It is open from 10 am till 10p.

(I recommend you to come at around 11am though since most of the food is still being prepared).
